 Never lost in translation!

Need a quick quality translation? We are an Oslo-based translation agency dedicated to providing professional linguistic services for both corporate and private clients. Our concept is based on a now fully developed global network of native speaking translators, interpreters, language professionals, and last, but not least, project managers – as well as on offering an almost endless selection of language combinations. We offer affordable, fast and professional solutions to any written translation task, tailored to the client's needs. We can handle all kinds of translations to and from all Scandinavian, Eastern European and EU languages, a number of African and most Asian languages. Backed up by our solid experience from the international market, we specialize in direct translation between foreign languages (e.g. Spanish to German or Finnish to Russian). Please note that in many cases we are able to provide a translation of the same text at guaranteed lower prices, if translated to or from English – compared to the price of a similar translation made to or from Norwegian. This is precisely because we are able to offer translations between foreign (non-Norwegian) languages at prices which often tend to be lower. We can thus offer translations between English and almost all foreign languages (e.g. English to Vietnamese) at a charge per word that may be considerably lower than for a corresponding translation from Norwegian to Vietnamese. The same applies to a number of other languages, such as Spanish, Albanian, Serbian, Croatian, Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Punjabi, Tamil, Mongolian, Japanese, Thai, Somali, Amharic, Lingala, etc. In cases like this, translations made from an English source text will often be less expensive. Contact us for a competitive price offer today!

  Language classification

Languages that are interrelated are often grouped together in language groups – for example, Norwegian can together with other Scandinavian languages be categorized in the same group as Danish, Swedish, Icelandic and Faeroese as a North Germanic language. Language groups consisting of such interrelated languages are the building blocks that form larger units called language families. One of the largest language families both in terms of number of languages and their distribution are the Niger-Congo languages.

The largest language families in the world, classified according to the number of their native speakers, are according to Wikipedia the following: Indo-European languages (Europe, Southwest and South Asia); 2. Sino-Tibetan languages (East Asia); 3. Niger-Congo languages (Sub-Saharan Africa); 4. Afro-Asiatic languages (North Africa, the Horn of Africa, Southwest Asia); 5. Austronesian languages (Oceania, Madagaskar); 6. Dravidian languages (South Asia); 7. Altaic languages (Asia); 8. Austroasiatic languages (Southeast Asia); 9. Tai-Kadai languages (Southeast Asia); 10. Uralic languages (Northern Asia, Northern Europe). ***

  Indo-European languages

The majority of languages we translate to and from happen to be Indo-European languages. Which is quite understandable, as in excess of 3 billion people speak today an Indo-European language as their native tongue – the largest language family in the world today, covering more than half the earth’s area. Indo-European languages comprise the following 8 living sub-groups: Albanian, Armenian, Balto-Slavic languages, Germanic, Hellenic, Indo-Iranian, Italic (includes Romance) and Celtic languages, in addition to a number of subgroups comprising certain extinct languages. Of the 20 major languages in the world, 12 are Indo-European: Spanish, English, Hindi, Portuguese, Bengali, Russian, Punjabi, German, French, Marathi, Urdu and Italian.

Most languages of Europe belong to the Indo-European language family, and they are now found on all continents. But at the same time it is the Indo-Iranian languages group, a sub-branch of the Indo-European languages, that is the largest in terms of its number of speakers – and number of languages. The Indo-Iranian languages are in turn split into two groups, Indo-Aryan (Indic) and Iranian languages. The former are found in South Asia, on the Indian subcontinent. Some major Indo-Aryan languages are Hindi, the closely related Urdu, Bengali, as well as other regional Indian languages – in addition to the classical language, Sanskrit. ***
